past (or shall we say Dark Ages?), men--not women--carried the first
purses. True, these early examples were rather shapeless sacks
or pouches--called almoners-- but it showed who controlled the
"purse strings" and thus, the power. How times have
(thankfully) changed! Today purses are among a woman's most
prized possessions-- and she can never have too many vintage bags! Now women can
flaunt their hard-won independence and femininity in the form of a
vintage reticule, clutch, jeweled evening bag, deco mesh purse or a fine leather
handbag.

FAB FIGURAL HUNTER
ANTIQUE BEADED
PURSE--RARE SCENIC!
This RARE beaded beauty
features an unusual HUNTING SCENE
w/ DEER AND DOG!
BIG & BOLD with BRIGHT colors,
this vintage beaded beauty shows such an intricate design and
attention to detail. Notice the proud hunter with his loyal
dog by his side, smoking a pipe admiring his fallen prey. Looks like
deer antlers decorate the front of his red-roofed house. located
near the mountains. Obviously a custom-made design of seed beads on
canvas, I've never seen such a unusual hunting scene, especially
with such vivid colors, but is most likely German or Austrian in
origin.
c. 1860s-1880s
A nice shape and size, it's accented by
an equally detailed 800 silver frame with an outdoor scene.
New soft blue lining and beautiful matching fringe were recently
added to capture the striking colors. With the raised frame, this
antique beaded bag measures approx.
7.25" wide x 11" long; floral chain handle adds 8 inches.
NO flaws, wear or tears.

ART NOUVEAU CUT-STEEL VINTAGE FIGURAL BEADED PURSE
RARE
and UNUSUAL FIGURAL VINTAGE BEADED BAG features two identical
birds with a diamond checkerboard background. Unlike most
cut-steel purses, this one is in as pristine condition as you can
get--especially for a bag that's 100 years old. The design looks like
a transitional pattern, blending a natural Art Nouveau subject of
birds and period frame with the geometric elements of Art Deco in the
diamond background.
This
antique beaded beauty boasts a heavy ornate goldtone Art Nouveau frame, twisted
fringe and satin eggplant purple lining--all in MINTY condition. Birds
